Started in 1955, by Arthur Hughes, in Northgate, the Art Shop then moved to Duke Street in 1963, then moved to Bondgate in 1988, whilst always offering a creative shopping experience.
The family business, now run by Ian and Lynda, has expanded from one shop to occupy the shops either side, becoming 3 shops. Hence our company name Tri-Art.
We have become one of Darlington's most popular shops for generations of families and becoming an iconic part of Darlington town centre. The Art Shop is well known throughout the North-East and has become one of the North's leading art stores.
Our trained staff offer a 'made to measure' shopping experience and know how to help customers. One of the reasons why the shop has flourished over the years.
We cater for all, from the specialist artist, craft enthusiast, model and hobby maker to the youngest of beginners. We also have a renowned card selection and gift shop and our own in-house bespoke framing service. With competitive prices and helpful service our trained staff are always on hand to help with ideas, inspiration and information.
